In 2012, UNESCO recognized the Western Ghats as a World Heritage Site, not just
as a protected landscape, but as a global ecological asset vital to the planet itself.
Across 1600 kilometers, the Ghats breathe life into a quarter of India's
biodiversity. More than 7400 plant species. Over 300 rivers. Monsoons that
define our climate. And forests that hold the memory of centuries.
